This move ends activities at the Scarborough site and allows the company to focus on advancing its patented mobile graphite purification technology and boosting its high-performance battery initiatives. The Guelph plant will centralize graphite processing, customer trials, and equipment fabrication, further enabling Volt Carbon to scale the production of its mobile purification units.

Significant technological achievements include the completion of over 500 process trials on 4 tonnes of graphitic rock and stockpiling 40 tonnes of graphitic rock for future pilot-scale production campaigns. The facility supports extensive battery testing capabilities, including the evaluation of 160 coin cells and 168 pouch cells. These developments are complemented by a new environmental chamber for aerospace and defense applications, indicating Volt Carbon's readiness to meet demanding industry standards.

In terms of battery performance, Volt Carbon's proprietary lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery has reached 1,100 charge-discharge cycles with 80% capacity retention. Additionally, its lithium-metal batteries, utilizing high-nickel NMC811 cathodes, showed impressive performance with 800 cycles at 80% capacity retention at an energy density of 400 Wh/kg. These advancements reflect the company's commitment to overcoming industry-wide challenges in energy density and cycle life.
