Alphabet (GOOGL, Financial), Google's parent company, has announced a hardware launch event in New York. New products such as the Pixel 10 series phones and the 4th-generation Pixel Watch will debut, focusing on AI features powered by the newly developed Tensor G5 processor.
The Pixel 10 series includes four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This launch closely follows Samsung's release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, positioning the two as direct competitors. While the design remains consistent with the Pixel 9 series, the new phones will feature upgraded processors and hardware, along with the latest Android 16 OS.
Notably, the Pixel 10 series will employ chips manufactured by Taiwan's TSMC (TSM), marking a shift from Google's reliance on Samsung's foundry services. Despite the competition, Google aims to capture market interest through innovative AI functions and competitive pricing.
Google continues its strategy of advancing its "Made by Google" events to August, aiming to capture attention before Apple's annual iPhone launch in September. Although Google's market presence in U.S. smartphones lags behind Apple (AAPL) and Samsung, the Pixel line is popular among tech enthusiasts for its superior camera and timely Android updates.
