OPW Retail Fueling, part of Dover Corporation (DOV), has launched the 71SO Segmented Overfill Valve, marking a significant advancement in overfill prevention technology. This innovative product features a modular design composed of four interlocking sections, custom-fit for tank diameters between 8 to 12 feet. Notably, the valve maintains the original two-stage positive shut-off mechanism and introduces improvements in shipping, storage, and installation.

The segmented design of the 71SO enhances logistical convenience, reducing packaging size and freight costs, and simplifying onsite assembly without requiring special tools or additional manpower. This new format is user-friendly, allowing for easier handling and installation while retaining the high-performance standards of the original model.

Performance is a key feature of the 71SO Segmented Overfill Valve. It automatically shuts off at 95% tank capacity and includes a bypass valve permitting topping off at 98% through a reduced flow rate of 5 gallons per minute. This ensures enhanced safety and compliance with EPA regulations by keeping the top of the tank dry, crucial for overfill prevention.

The valve is compatible with 4-inch fill risers and is available in multiple configurations, including Testable, Non-Testable, Vapor-Tight, and Non-Vapor-Tight options. It is designed for use in both new and retrofit applications, offering a flexible solution for diverse site requirements.

Ed Kammerer, Vice President of Global Product Marketing at OPW Retail Fueling, emphasized that the 71SO Segmented Overfill Valve reflects the company’s commitment to improving safety, reducing installation time, and decreasing shipping challenges and labor costs associated with traditional designs. This latest innovation is expected to enhance operations in the retail-fueling industry significantly.
