The Conference Board's Leading Economic Index (LEI) fell by 0.3% in June, aligning with the median forecast of economists. The index now stands at 98.8. Predictions from 23 economists ranged from a decline of 0.4% to a slight increase of 0.1%. In May, the LEI remained unchanged, while it had decreased by 1.4% in April. Over the past six months, the annualized rate of decline for the LEI is 5.4%.
Meanwhile, the Coincident Economic Index, which reflects current economic conditions, rose by 0.3% in June after being flat in May. The Lagging Economic Index, which typically moves after the broader economy, remained unchanged in June, following a 0.4% increase in May.
