Alibaba (9988, Financial) has launched the Qwen3-Coder model, hailed as the most advanced code model to date under its Tongyi Qianwen subsidiary. The model boasts various configurations, with the most powerful being the Coder-480B-A35B-Instruct. This is a 480B parameter model that utilizes a MoE (Mixture of Experts) framework, natively supporting 256K tokens and extendable to 1M tokens via YaRN. Qwen3-Coder excels in Agentic capabilities, achieving state-of-the-art results in Agentic Coding, Browser-Use, and Tool-Use, comparable to models like Claude Sonnet4.
Tongyi Qianwen has also introduced Qwen Code, a command-line tool designed for agent-based programming, which is open-sourced for community development. This tool is built on the Gemini Code and includes customized prompt and tool invocation protocols, enhancing Qwen3-Coder's performance in Agentic Coding tasks. The model is compatible with leading community coding tools such as Claude Code and Cline, offering versatile and advanced coding options.
