GSR III Acquisition (GSRT, Financial) and Terra Innovatum have shown strong support for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's new strategy on licensing micro-modular reactors. Following public meetings held by the NRC on July 17-18, 2025, the companies highlighted their approval of the proposed streamlined licensing process for micro-modular and other low-risk reactors. A key feature of the proposal includes limitations on the type and amount of "Special Nuclear Materials" such as uranium and plutonium, aligning with their SOLO’s Safeguards by Design approach.
From their inception in 2018, GSRT's reactors have focused on providing safe and globally deployable nuclear energy solutions. With an emphasis on resistance to proliferation, they have embedded safeguards to limit unauthorized access or misuse of fissile materials, adhering to standards set by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Department of Energy. Their reactors incorporate a compact and sealed core design that restricts the use of SNM while using standard Low Enriched Uranium fuel to support non-proliferation efforts. Praising the NRC's transparent and collaborative rulemaking process, the companies look forward to engaging in the formal comment period and advancing the development of safe nuclear technologies worldwide.
