Ameresco, Inc. (AMRC), a renowned energy solutions provider, has announced the completion of a significant energy modernization project at Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC). This initiative, aimed at bolstering energy resilience and modernizing campus infrastructure, is projected to save the college over $141,000 annually. SENMC has entered into a 20-year Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract with Ameresco to support these improvements.
This comprehensive project included the installation of a variety of renewable and energy-efficient technologies. Key upgrades incorporated LED lighting retrofits, rooftop unit enhancements, heat pump replacements, and the construction of solar photovoltaic-covered parking structures with a capacity of 977.7 kW-DC, which will generate energy while providing shade.
Dr. Kevin Beardmore, President of SENMC, lauded the partnership with Ameresco, noting the project's contribution to the college's strategic goals of efficiency and student success. The upgrades are expected to enhance the reliability of facility operations, alongside improving the learning and research environments for students and faculty.
