As Apple (AAPL, Financial) remains the tech king in the mobile world with its latest offerings like the iPhone 6 and iPad mini Air 2 gaining swift sales momentum in the market soon after their release, there are new rumors being announced via various news sources. News sources have leaked information that, for those who feel that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are overwhelmingly massive for their tiny palms, there is a quick fix that Apple is slated to release in the market in early 2015. However, such information has still not been confirmed by the company personnel, so it’s better to consider this news as a piece of speculation right now. But if Apple really releases such a smartphone into the international markets by early 2015, what it could be like, let’s dig deeper and find out what has been actually leaked by confirmed sources.

What’s the speculation around?

Rumor has it that the Cupertino based company is bringing back the 4-inch form factor last seen in it’s iPhone 5s. In a note to investors this week, Cowen and Company analyst, Timothy Arcuri stated that Apple might be actually working upon the release of three flagship smartphones by 2015 – a 4.7-inch iPhone 6s, a 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus and a new 4-inch model dubbed as the iPhone 6s mini.

Arcuri further commented that analysts are of the belief that the new 4-inch smartphone model would resemble similar features as seen in iPhone 5s, but might also include curved screen edges like the iPhone 6 and some purpose-built low cost components from Qualcomm (QCOM, Financial) to keep the price a bit economical compared to the iPhone 6.

In fact, it is being said widespread that if Apple moves ahead with the making of such a device, it would likely act as the replacement to the iPhone 5c, which did not get any upgrade this fiscal year from the Apple’s workshop.

AppleInsider has rightly noted that Arcuri, like many other analysts, has a spotty track record with Apple prognostication. In fact, Arcuri had imagined and guessed many of the features of the iPhone 6 before the phone’s formal release  like the larger screen size – but also had incorrectly claimed that the 6 Plus version –would have a more powerful processor than the iPhone 6 version.

Reports have shown that the release of the iPhone 6 by Apple aided in achieving record-high sales figures for the company. It has been noticed that since the launch of the iPhone 6 Apple’s market share has grown phenomenally in U.K. – presently Apple accounts for 39.5% of the British smartphone sales, and it’s indeed the highest it has ever earned since its entry into the nation.

Now if the iPhone 6s mini gets formally launched and is able to create the hype that iPhone 5c failed to do, then the sales chart for smartphones might go skyrocketing for the tech giant. So, it would be best to wait and watch if the rumors actually turn into reality.

Entering into the new year

Though all such news is currently being treated in the “rumor” category, many are waiting to hear more about Apple’s iPhone plans for 2015 shortly into the new year. It’s possible that Apple might just rock the market by making a sudden launch of such a smartphone in the coming year. So, let’s stay tuned and keep watching.
