In the time and age when smartphones are in a perennial battle to be considered as the "most affordable" deal, consumers are the beneficiaries of the most state-of-the-art technology in unheard prices. Micromax too is all set to match steps with the aforementioned market competitors with its newly launched Yu Yuphoria which was unveiled first in Delhi. While a metal frame body ensures a classy look to the phone, 2GB RAM and 5MP front camera et al comes in unprecedentedly affordable price tag of Rs 6,999. Even though Yu Yuphoria has a great technological promise, it will still have to compete with Xiaomi’s Redmi2 which is already predominant in Indian market. There are other technical giants like Motorola (MSI, Financial) and Lenovo (LNVGY, Financial) too who can give Yu Yuphoria a run for their money in the Indian market scene. Among which, Motorola’s Moto E and Lenovo’s A6000 are the closest competition.
Smartphone competition in India
If you are in the lookout for larger screens, both Yu Yuphoria and Lenovo A6000 are the ripest best options. Rest, Yu Yuphoria is a better looking beast for the stylish body finish and the 2GB RAM support. Redmi2 also has a larger screen but what sets it apart is the high pixel quality, evidently better than both Lenovo and Yu Yuphoria the Redmi2 tenders a sharper display also.
In another leaf, Yu Yuphoria has the fastest Snapdragon processor which potentially makes for a better surfing experience and multi-tasking too. While other two smartphones except for Moto E also has Snapdragon as the processor, Yu Yuphoria’s 2GB RAM makes all the difference in this segment.
Talking about size, Yu Yuphoria has a way larger screen than its other counterparts measuring about 142.38 x 72.96 x 8.25mm. Redmi2, the closest competition to Yu Yuphoria lags behind in screen size measuring 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm. Furthermore, Micromax has gone the extra mile to slim down the waistline of the Yu Yuphoria phone so that it can compete with the Redmi2 in the Indian market. Yu Yuphoria has got the edgy look that comes from the metal body which is more likely to throw Redmi2 sales out of gear this season for its metallic finish over Redmi2’s plastic casing. Redmi2 has a 4.7” 720p display and Yu Yuphoria has a 5” 720p display which makes a huge passage in sales graphs too. The cherry on the cake is the latest Gorrila glass 3 that the Yu Yuphoria has been endowed with earns it the extra brownie points.
Yu Yuphoria, by virtue with its most advanced Android 5.0.2 based Cyanogen OS 12 processor, boots out every possibility of hazardous surfing and ensures a seamless surfing experience. In comparison to Redmi2’s Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with company’s MIUI 6 on top couldn’t put up a healthy competition to Cyanogen OS.
Camera wise also, Yu Yuphoria has a superior 5MP front camera as compared to Redmi2’s 2MP unit. But the rear camera for both the phones comes with 8MP, autofocus features along with LED flash.
The upper cut
As the competition intensify, both the companies will try not leaving any stone unturned to come up with the most efficient technologies in the most pocket friendly prices to acquire the Indian market which is potentially the second-largest consumer base in the world after China owing to its sizable population. We are, thus, hopeful that new technological advances will bring a big boom in the smartphone scene in the Indian subcontinent and if they get their equations right to lure the consumers here Micormax can easily repeat the Xiaomi act and topple a number of global smartphone biggies.
