Jeff Ubben (Trades, Portfolio) is co-founder of ValueAct Capital as well as its chief executive officer and chief investment officer. ValueAct seeks to secure weighty stakes in a small number of undervalued companies; Ubben, likewise, has a limited number of stocks in his portfolio, and most of his activity in the first quarter was focused on adding to those holdings.

He only bought two new stocks – Precision Castparts Corp (PCP, Financial) and Wesco International Inc (WCC, Financial) – and sold his stake in just one – Rockwell Collins Inc. (COL, Financial) – in the first quarter. He also reduced his stake in one company – Agrium Inc (AGU, Financial).

Ubben left his most-valuable stake, Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc (VRX, Financial), untouched in the first quarter, but he added to his holdings in the next three most-valuable stakes in his portfolio – Microsoft Corp (MSFT, Financial), Halliburton Co (HAL, Financial) and Baker Hughes Inc (BHI, Financial).

Ubben bought 1,033,186 shares of Microsoft, the Redmond, Washington-based computer software and hardware and consumer electronics company, for an average price of $43.53 per share. The transaction had a 0.23% impact on his portfolio.

Microsoft has a market cap of $379.64 billion and an enterprise value of $316.07 billion. It has a P/E of 19.7, a Price/Book of 4.2 and a Price/Sales of 4.1.
