Carl Icahn (Trades, Portfolio)'s Icahn Enterprises (IEP, Financial) released its second quarter 13F filing last Friday. The firm disclosed new stakes in Tegna Inc. (TGNA, Financial), Gannett Spinco Inc. (GCI, Financial) and Cheniere Energy (LNG, Financial). During the second quarter Icahn disclosed that he sold his 15 million shares of Gannett Inc. As well Icahn sold the remaining 1.4 million share of Netflix (NFLX, Financial) that he owned for $588 million. Icahn has made over $2 billion in profits off his Netflix investment that he held two years.
Tegna Inc.:
The company was formed in June 29, 2015 when Gannett Company spun off its publishing assets which retained the "Gannett" name. Tegma is the nonpublishing segment of the former "Gannett." The company owns and operates 46 television stations and is the largest group owner affiliated with NBC and CBS. During the second quarter Carl Icahn (Trades, Portfolio) purchased 14,967,373 at a average price of $31/share. By the end of the second quarter Icahn owns 6.63% of Tegma.
Gannett Co Inc.:
The company is the largest U.S. newspaper publisher by measure of total daily circulation. Icahn as well bought 7,483,683 of Gannett Co. Inc. during the second quarter. Icahn owned over 6% of Gannett Co. at the end of the second quarter.
Cheniere Energy:
During the second quarter Icahn invested in natural gas company Cheniere Energy. The company is first company to get a permit to export liquefied natural gas abroad. Icahn acquired 19,353,530 shares at a average price of $60/share.
