U.S. market indexes closed lower for the day on Wednesday, Sept. 17 after the Federal Reserve reported it would keep its federal funds rate unchanged. The S&P 500 fell 0.24% for the day with losses led by the financial sector down 1.40%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.36%, with losses led by Apple (AAPL, Financial) down 2.14%.
In an interview prior to Janet Yellen’s afternoon press conference, Bill Gross discussed his thoughts on the Federal Open Market Committee’s decision to keep the federal funds rate unchanged at 0% to 0.25%. In his comments, Bill Gross focused on the rather surprising influence that changes in the global economy have had on the U.S., and specifically trading activity within the U.S. financial market.
