Monday’s market movers
The election of Emmanuel Macron in France kept market valuations lower in morning trading, but stocks turned positive and ended mostly higher for the day. The Labor Market Conditions Index was the leading U.S. economic report for the day. The Index reported a level of 3.5 with possible upward revisions expected. The prior month’s Index level was reported at 0.4 and revised to 3.6.
In the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the following stocks led gains:
- Apple (AAPL, Financial) 2.72%.
- ExxonMobil (XOM, Financial) 1.06%.
- Chevron (CVX, Financial) 0.84%.
- Home Depot (HD, Financial) 0.74%.
In the broad market, energy stocks led gains. Technology was also higher with the S&P 500 technology sector up 0.44%.

The Dow Jones Small-Cap Growth TSM Index closed at 8,369.49 for a loss of 45.02 points or 0.54%. The Dow Jones Small-Cap Value TSM Index closed at 9,583.11 for a loss of 25.32 points or 0.26%.
