Kroger to Post 1st-Quarter Results Thursday

Company is projected to post EPS of 57 cents on revenue of $35.77 billion

The Kroger Co. (KR, Financial) – a supermarket chain headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio – is expected to release its first-quarter 2017 results on June 15.

For the quarter, analysts forecast Kroger will post EPS of 57 cents on average, which represents an 18.6% decrease on a year-over-year basis. This average EPS ranges between a low of 55 cents and a high estimate of 60 cents.

The company had approximately $322 million in cash on hand and securities as of fourth-quarter 2016 and produced cash flow of $4.27 billion from its operations over the last trailing 12-month period. The total debt amounted to $14.09 billion for a total debt to equity (mrq) ratio of 209.91. The interest coverage ratio of 6.6 falls below the industry average ratio of 19.8.

The current ratio of 0.80 is below the industry average of 1.25.

Kroger is currently trading at $30.03 per share on the New York Stock Exchange with a price-earnings (P/E) ratio of 14.65, a price-sales (P/S) ratio of 0.24 and a price-book (P/B) ratio of 4.14.

The analysts’ average target price is $34.05, which represents a 13.4% upside from the current share price. The recommendation rating is 2.3 out of 5.

Kroger distributes an annual dividend of 48 cents through quarterly payments of 12 cents, for a dividend yield of 1.56% based on the current market value of the stock.
