U.S. market indexes were lower on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,180.64 for a loss of -109.41 points or -0.45%. The S&P 500 Index closed at 2,629.57 for a loss of -9.87 points or -0.37%. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,762.21 for a loss of -13.15 points or -0.19%. The VIX Volatility Index was lower at 11.30 with a loss of -0.38% or -3.25%.

Tuesday’s market movers

Stocks continued to report losses on Tuesday. Utilities and industrial stocks led the market’s losses. Technology was higher with the S&P 500 technology sector up 0.03%.
