Wednesday’s market movers
Indexes were down on Wednesday after reporting record consecutive gains in 2018. The real estate and utilities sectors led losses for the day. Technology stocks were also lower with the S&P 500 technology sector down -0.33%.
Economic reports affecting market trading for the day included the following:
- The Mortgage Bankers Association’s mortgage applications index increased 8.3% for the week.
- Import and export prices were reported. Import prices gained 0.1% for the month and export prices decreased -0.1%.
- Wholesale trade inventories increased 0.8% for the month.
- The EIA Petroleum Status report showed a decrease of -4.9 million barrels in oil inventory.
