Cigna CEO Defends Merger With Express Scripts

Deal faces opposition from Carl Icahn

Merger plans between Cigna (CI, Financial) and Express Scripts (ESRX, Financial)Â have hit a wall as billionaire activist investorÂ Carl Icahn (Trades, Portfolio) has voiced opposition to it, calling on other shareholders to do so as well.Â

Cigna CEO David Cordani appeared on CNBC Wednesday to defend his company and its plans to acquire Express Scripts. During the interview, he discussed Icahn'sÂ letter to Cigna's shareholders and explained why the guru is wrong.
