US Market Indexes Close Mostly Higher on Friday

Nasdaq Composite gains 5.74% in August

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,964.82 on Friday with a loss of -22.10 points or -0.09%. The S&P 500 closed at 2,901.52 for a gain of 0.39 points or 0.01%. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 8,109.54 for a gain of 21.17 points or 0.26%. The VIX Volatility Index was lower at 12.86 for a loss of -0.67 points or -4.95%.

For the month, the Dow Jones gained 2.45%, the Nasdaq Composite gained 5.74% and the S&P 500 gained 3.19%.

Friday’s market movers

U.S. market indexes ended a positive week mostly higher on Friday. Consumer discretionary and real estate led gains. The U.S. and Canada were unable to reach an agreement by Friday with the U.S. and Mexico agreement announced earlier in the week.
