(GuruFocus, November 6, 2009) Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) (BRK-B) will finish off a headline-making week by releasing its third-quarter earnings report Friday.
Earlier this week, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. announced a $26.3 billion cash and stock deal to buy Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. (BNI, Financial). That deal to acquire all the BNSF shares Berkshire doesn't already own will be the Omaha-based company's biggest if shareholders and regulators approve it.
Berkshire's earnings are expected to look pretty good because this year's hurricane season was relatively quiet and because the stock market's recovery will boost the estimated value of Berkshire's derivatives that are tied to equity indexes.
The four analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect Berkshire to report earnings per Class A share of $1,308.25.
