(CPG, Financial) led the day’s earnings gainers with a 3 cent earnings per share beat and a stock gain of 16.48%. Twitter (TWTR, Financial) was also in the earnings spotlight with a 7 cent earnings beat and a gain of 15.47%. Investors will also be watching Amazon (AMZN, Financial), Alphabet (GOOG, Financial) and Intel’s after-hours earnings reports.
Economic reports affecting market trading included the following:
- Jobless claims increased to 215,000.
- Durable goods orders increased 0.8% in September.
- Wholesale inventories increased 0.3% in September.
- The Pending Home Sales Index increased 0.5% in September.
