It is this time of the year again. As a tradition, we are asking the GuruFocus community to nominate the Investment Guru of Year 2009.

In the past, GuruFocus users voted Warren Buffett (2005), David Dreman (2006), Ken Heebner (2007), Prem Watsa (2008) to be the Gurus of The Year.

Stock market had a dramatic run this year. S&P 500 started the year at 903 and touched an intra-day low of 666 in March. Today it surpassed 1100 level, up more 23% from the beginning of the year.

Short of any major adversary development, equity investors will be happy as the year draws to a conclusion.

That does not mean there is any consensus among the market participants on what is next for the economy and the markets. Are we going to have inflation, or deflation? or deflation first and then inflation? Will the next 10 percent in stock market be up or down? What about the next 20%? When will be good time to invest in Gold? Should we jump in now or wait for a pull back?

Let’s leave those worries for tomorrow. For now, let’s reflect what the Investment Gurus did during the year. What have they done for their shareholders and partners? What have you learned from them throughout the year?

Please nominate the Guru you like the best by typing his/her name in the comment field of this thread and giving a reason briefly.

The deadline for the nomination is Dec. 15.

Thank you for your participation.
