Stephen B. Burke, Berkshire Hathaway’s newest board member, is also a Berkshire shareholder.

Burke bought five shares of Berkshire "A" stock Tuesday, according to an SEC filing yesterday. The purchase price was $98,779.80.

Burke did not own any shares of BRKA prior to this week’s investment, according to the SEC filing. Berkshire's board members generally have major investments in the company's stock.

Burke, 51, was added to the Berkshire board last week. He is president of Comcast Cable Communications.

"Steve, at 51, is business-savvy, owner-oriented and keenly interested in Berkshire, the three ingredients we look for in directors," Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett said in a statement announcing the news last week. "Having him join us is a home run for Berkshire."
