Berkshire Hathaway Vice Chairman Charlie Munger last month donated 24 shares of Berkshire Hathaway "A" stock to causes he supports, according to an SEC filing today.

Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett gets most of the publicity for his charitable giving, but Munger too has been generous with his Berkshire-generated wealth. Last month's donations are valued at about $2.4 million.

Munger donated eight shares -- worth about $800,000 -- to the Harvard-Westlake School, a private college prep school in Munger's hometown of Los Angeles. Munger has supported the school previously.

Munger also gave away two Berkshire "A" shares to eight different charitable trusts.

After the donations Munger held 13,157 Berkshire "A" shares, which are worth about $1.3 billion, making him one of the top-400 wealthiest Americans. In the SEC filing Munger said he doesn't own any Berkshire "B" shares.

Munger has also given generously to Stanford University, including a recent donation of $43.5 million to pay for a new five-building, 600-bed complex for graduate students.
