U.S. stocks closed with gains on Monday after the U.S. and Mexico reached an immigration deal over the weekend to avoid the beginning of new import tariffs. In the S&P 500, technology, financials and consumer discretionary led gains. Technology investors were watching a request from the White House’s budget chief to delay restrictions on business with Huawei. Investors were also watching the stocks of United Technologies (UTX, Financial) and Raytheon (RTN, Financial) after the two companies announced plans for a merger.

- The New York Federal Reserve’s Inflation Expectations report showed the one-year inflation expectation decreasing 0.1% to 2.5%.
- The Treasury held auctions for three-month bills at a rate of 2.240% and six-month bills at a rate of 2.140%.
