Floor & Decor Holdings Inc Frequently Asked Questions
Guru Commentaries on NYSE:FND
Floor & Decor, a category killer retailer of flooring products, has started buying back shares at very attractive prices. This move indicates management's confidence in the company's future growth potential. The current market conditions present a compelling opportunity for value creation through stock buybacks, which can enhance shareholder value while the company continues to focus on organic growth. The combination of a strong business model and strategic capital allocation positions Floor & Decor favorably for future earnings growth.
I added to Floor & Decor (FND) because it's been a stock market darling during COVID, where it was assumed they would reach their mature footprint of 500 stores sooner than expected. Despite a significant decline in home sales activity post-COVID and some early sales results from new stores appearing ill-advised, I believe the company continues to take market share from legacy flooring providers. I think it's entirely possible FND generates $14B in sales a decade from now, up from $4.7B in 2025, and $1.4B net income, up from $209MM today. The potential for share repurchases with excess cash in the coming years could significantly enhance shareholder value.
We are excited about the medium-term prospects for Floor & Decor Holdings, Inc. for several reasons: it is a competitively advantaged company with 'everyday low pricing' and unmatched breadth of inventory in-stock. The company benefits from a direct overseas sourcing model, leading to a low-cost advantage relative to peers. Additionally, U.S. remodel activity is at cyclical depressed levels, and Floor & Decor should benefit from any pickup in this activity. The company has historically demonstrated ample pricing power to offset cost inflation and has opportunities to cross-sell additional remodel products within its existing store footprint. With plans to nearly double its store locations to 500 by 2032, management expects EBITDA margins to stabilize in the 15% to 17% range versus 11% presently.
