Sims Ltd is an Australian-listed metal recycling company that buys, processes and sells ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, and also recycles electronics. Its operations span North America, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, with the United States representing its largest market. The company collects scrap from industrial manufacturers, demolition contractors, auto dismantlers, governments and households, then processes it into specification-grade products sold to steel mills, foundries and smelters, principally in Asia and North America. Its segments include Sims Metal, which handles ferrous and nonferrous recycling, and Sims Lifecycle Services, which provides IT asset disposition and electronics recycling. Revenue is driven by the volume and prevailing market prices of recycled commodities, supplemented by service fees from electronics recycling and municipal collection contracts.
