Anglo American PLC is a global mining company headquartered in London. Following a major restructuring announced in 2024, it is refocusing on copper, premium iron ore, and crop nutrients while divesting other businesses. It operates large copper mines in Chile and Peru, iron ore operations in South Africa and Brazil, and the Woodsmith polyhalite fertilizer project in the UK. The company sold its platinum group metals business and is separating from De Beers, its diamond unit and a leading supplier of rough diamonds by value. It also produces nickel and manganese, and has sought to exit metallurgical coal. Anglo American sells commodities under long-term contracts and on spot markets to industrial customers, smelters, and traders worldwide, generating revenue primarily from copper, iron ore, and diamonds, with growing contributions expected from crop nutrients. It agreed to merge with Teck Resources.
