Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV, operating as Volaris, is a Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier. It provides scheduled passenger air service within Mexico and on international routes to the United States, Central America, and South America. The airline serves leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives travelers, as well as business passengers, using a point-to-point network that avoids hub connections. Volaris generates most revenue from passenger fares, supplemented by ancillary income such as baggage fees, seat selection, and other optional services, along with cargo and other non-passenger revenue. Its low base fares are designed to stimulate demand and compete with long-distance bus travel in Mexico. The company operates a fleet of Airbus aircraft, primarily A320-family jets, and has expanded through both organic growth and the launch of subsidiaries, including operations in Costa Rica.
