Medivir AB develops drugs with a focus on cancer, where unmet medical needs are high. The company is concentrating on the development of fostroxacitabine bralpamide (fostrox), a liver-targeted inhibitor of DNA replication that selectively delivers the cell-killing agent to the tumor while minimizing potentially harmful effects on normal cells. It has developed two pharmaceutical products: Xerclear, used for treating labial herpes (cold sores), and Olysio, which have reached the market.
