Air China Ltd is a state-controlled Chinese airline headquartered in Beijing and a member of the Star Alliance. Its core business is scheduled passenger and cargo air transport, operating an extensive domestic network across China plus international routes to Asia, Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa, with Beijing Capital International Airport as its main hub and a secondary hub in Chengdu. The airline serves business and leisure travelers, corporate accounts and cargo shippers, and also earns revenue from aircraft engineering, ground handling and other airline-related services through subsidiaries including Air China Cargo and maintenance operations. Revenue is driven primarily by passenger ticket sales, supplemented by cargo, ancillary services and rental income. Mainland China accounts for the largest share of revenue, followed by international markets and the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan region.
