Its operations span several segments: sugar, where it produces crystal sugar from sugarcane; chemicals, including rectified spirit, extra neutral alcohol, ethanol, and byproducts such as calcium lactate, carbon dioxide, and organic manure; power and fuel, through cogeneration of electricity from bagasse; and engineering and other activities. The company operates sugar mills and distilleries, largely in southern India, and sells sugar to institutional buyers, traders, and industrial consumers, while its alcohol and ethanol output serves beverage, pharmaceutical, and fuel-blending markets. Power generated through cogeneration is used captively and sold to state grids. The sugar segment contributes the largest share of revenue, and the vast majority of the company's sales are derived within India, with limited export activity.
