BB&T Securities is a wholly owned asset management company that acts as a nonbank subsidiary of BB&T Corporation. The company was formerly known as Clearview Correspondent Services before changing its name to BB&T Securities in 2013. The company operates through its BB&T Capital Markets and BB&T Scott & Stringfellow sub subsidiary company divisions. BB&T Capital Markets is a “leading source of capital market solutions and services for selected corporate, government, and institutional relationships.” The company offers equity and fixed income research, new issue equity and debt products, and secondary liquidity to its retail clients and merger and acquisition advice, institutional sales and trading, portfolio evaluation, and banking products to its corporate clients. BB&T Scott & Stringfellow, the other half of BB&T Securities, can trace its history back to 1893 when it was founded by Frederic William Scott and Charles S. Stringfellow, Jr. The company would have over a century of collected experiences and history before becoming a part of BB&T Corporation as a retail brokerage subsidiary in 1999. The subsidiary has continued its operations, promising high quality, personal service with its team of professionals. BB&T Scott & Stringfellow conducts regional brokerage and investment banking for its variegated client base including individuals, institutions, corporates, and municipalities. In total, the two subsidiaries have over 60 offices in the United States, including in California, New Jersey, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, and Vriginia, among others, employing over 1000 people that include 270 professional financial advisors. Its total assets under management, under the BB&T Scurities umbrella, number over $8 billion and is split across over 15 thousand accounts. Under the operations of its two subsidiary companies, BB&T Securities performs services as a clearing company for brokerage firms, handling delivery and receipt of securities, processing exchange offers and other offerings, and selling and advising securities, insurance products, and annuities.
