General Electric Company (GE): Chairman and CEO, Director Jeffrey R. Immelt Bought 35,000 Shares


General Electric Company (GE) is a diversified industrial corporation. Its Infrastructure segment produces jet engines, turboprop and turbo shaft engines, and related replacement parts for use in military and commercial aircraft; wind turbines. The company has assets in various sectors from industrial to entertainment. The writer’s guild strikes have put a strain on the company’s entertainment business. A deal will complete in the coming quarter of 2008, where GE will acquire Merrill Lynch Capital’s capital lending business. The acquisition is expected to add more tan $10 billion of assets and $5 billion of commitments to GE Capital Finance.


John Keeley bought 62,210 shares in the last quarter. Ruane Cuniff and Bill Miller increased their GE holdings. Both Jean-Marie Eveillard and George Soros reduced their GE holdings by 31.78% and 69.17% respectively.

The company third-quarter net income increased by 4.1% to $23.02 million and revenue is up 15.2% compared to the previous year. Coastal Sunbelt Produce Inc., a company managed by MCGC, has acquired L&M Produce Inc.


In the last quarter, John Keeley bought 24,170 shares, and David Dreman increased his MCGC holdings by 14% to 229,900 shares.

The electronic payment software developer ACI Worldwide, Inc. (ACIW) announced its contract with IBM for programming their software into IBM computer processors. In the contract, IBM has received warrants to purchase 8% of the 35.7 million ACIW market shares. ACIW predicted a fourth quarter loss of $10.4 million.

The retail bank United Community Banks, Inc. (UCBI) posted their third quarter diluted earnings increase of 10% to $0.46 and a revenue increase by 21% to $83.6 million. The company’s President and CEO Jimmy C. Tallent stated, “We are pleased to report solid year-over-year performance, especially as the slow down in the residential real estate market makes this a challenging time for community banks.”


President & CEO, Director Jimmy C. Tallent bought 5,619 shares of UCBI stock on 12/17 at $16.37. Since July, Tallent bought a total of 29,431 shares between $16.37 and $25.19.
