Comcast Business has successfully deployed a groundbreaking Private Wireless Network solution at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, VA. This initiative, in partnership with Druid Software Ltd. and Airspan Networks Inc., significantly enhances wireless connectivity for students, faculty, and visitors. Utilizing Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) Spectrum, the network integrates seamlessly with cellular carriers and is designed to improve connectivity in high-traffic and challenging indoor environments.
Justin Markle, Senior Vice President of Wireless Partnerships and Development at Comcast, stated, "This deployment demonstrates the power of Comcast Business’s Private Wireless solutions to enhance connectivity across entire campuses, offering both reliability and cost-efficiency." The network operates as a Neutral Host, supporting multiple wireless carriers to ensure seamless access for all mobile users on UVA Grounds, regardless of their carrier.
With its Multi Operator Core Network (MOCN) capabilities, the network assures reliable service for voice, data, and video applications across a wide range of devices. Its cloud-based infrastructure and advanced wireless technology allow for easy scalability to meet increasing demand, positioning it as a cost-effective alternative to traditional Distributed Antenna System (DAS) networks.
