Imperial Oil Ltd is a Canadian integrated energy company operating across all phases of the petroleum industry. Its Upstream segment explores for and produces crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas, with major operations in the oil sands of Alberta, conventional oil and gas in Western Canada, and offshore Atlantic Canada. The Downstream segment refines crude oil into petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, heating oil, and aviation fuel, and distributes them through a network of Esso-branded retail stations and industrial and wholesale channels across Canada. The Chemical segment manufactures and markets hydrocarbon-based petrochemicals, including polyethylene and aromatics. Imperial Oil is majority-owned by Exxon Mobil Corporation and also pursues lower-emission opportunities such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, renewable fuels, and lithium. The Downstream segment generates the largest share of revenue, supported by the company's integrated refining, distribution, and marketing operations.
