Its telomerase inhibitor, RYTELO (imetelstat), is approved in the United States and European Union for certain adult patients with lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (LR-MDS) with transfusion-dependent anemia. RYTELO inhibits telomerase activity in malignant stem and progenitor cells, which may reduce abnormal cell proliferation while supporting the production of healthy cells.
