York Timber Holdings Business Description

York Timber Holdings Ltd is a South African forestry and timber group operating across the forestry value chain. It manages timber plantations and sawmills, and produces sawn timber, plywood and other wood products through its processing operations, which generate the bulk of revenue. The group also operates a wholesale division distributing timber and related building products, and a forestry and fleet division covering plantations and log transport. In addition, York runs agricultural operations, including orchards producing avocados, macadamias and citrus, supported by a packing facility in Mpumalanga. Its customers include builders' merchants, manufacturers, construction and industrial users, with sales concentrated in South Africa and supplemented by exports into SADC and other international markets. The company is headquartered in South Africa and its shares are listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
