2026 Q1
2026 first quarter investor letter
What the manager wrote

We used price weakness to add to Brown-Forman (BF.B). The company has a strong brand portfolio and is well-positioned in the beverage industry. Our decision to increase our position reflects our confidence in its long-term growth potential, especially as we believe the current market conditions present a favorable entry point. Brown-Forman's resilience and ability to navigate market fluctuations make it an attractive investment for our portfolio.

2025 Q2
2025 second quarter investor letter
What the manager wrote

We initiated a new investment in liquor producer Brown-Forman Company (BF.B) as fears over the structural collapse of the spirits industry have created a tremendous opportunity for investors. We have long admired Brown-Forman as one of the top liquor companies with world-class brands, holding a dominant position in the American Whiskey category. The company has delivered 32% operating margins over the last decade and a nearly 40% Return on Equity (ROE). Despite a 62% stock price drop in the last two years, we believe the spirits industry will return to its long-run growth rate, with Brown-Forman's U.S. business expected to grow at 4-5% and international sales at 5-7%. This should boost operating margins and result in normal earnings power of $2.15-$2.50 per share.
