Liberty Media is an example of an exceptional business being overlooked by a market hyper focused on AI. The business trades on 22x Free Cash Flow, which is cheaper than the MSCI ACWI. These cash flows are growing, highly visible and under multi-year media, sponsorship and race promotion agreements such as Melbourne’s agreement to host until 2037. Formula One has the equivalent of roughly four years of revenue under contract and continues to grow this backlog. In addition to the core F1 asset, we see meaningful latency in the recently acquired MotoGP asset, which is monetising at a fraction of the rate of Formula One on a per fan basis, with F1 having twice as many fans but monetising on key revenue drivers of between 5-10x.
We also closed a preferred deal with a PE-backed company in the live event media services that used our capital to reduce its secured leverage. DDF III partnered with a different PE shop and the pref has both a high teens coupon and a mechanism for the equity to seamlessly transfer from the sponsor to us. We also, in DMF, earned a low-teens return in a large deal for Liberty Media’s Puerto Rican entity that was backed by assets stripped from creditors. The sponsor was able to get its creditors to the table. As we said, capital solutions.
