GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Guru Investment Theses on Zebra Technologies Corp

John Rogers Comments on Zebra Technologies - Jul 24, 2017

Some stocks in the portfolio performed quite well. Zebra Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ZBRA)—a leading global supplier of solutions to help companies track physical assets and make smarter decisions—gained +10.16% during the period, driven predominantly by strong earnings. We believe the company's brand strength, distribution network and resources devoted to innovation enable it to gain market share, earn industry-leading profitability, and penetrate new growth markets. We view the company as an industry leader with a strong management team, well -positioned to benefit from secular global demand for asset tracking solutions, especially in developing economies.

John Rogers Comments on Zebra Technologies Corp - Oct 21, 2016

Also, thermal printer maker Zebra Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ZBRA) rose +38.94% due to a strong quarter. After adjusting for a tax benefit, its earnings per share were $1.34, crushing the $1.05 expectation. The company held its flat full year guidance. Wall Street had not previously believed in the company’s turnaround, but is clearly waking up. We think these numbers are just the beginning of the company’s good news.

John Rogers Comments on Zebra Technologies Corp - Jan 22, 2016

We also purchased shares of Zebra Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ZBRA), the leading global supplier of thermal printing solutions. A current holding in our small cap separate account portfolio (and also an Ariel Fund holding more than a decade ago), we added this bar-code maker to the Fund because we view Zebra as an industry leader with a strong management team, positioned to benefit from global demand for asset tracking solutions.
