Fonterra Co-operative Group Business Description

Address 109 Fanshawe Street, Auckland Central, Auckland, NTL, NZL, 1010
Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited is a New Zealand dairy co-operative owned by thousands of farmer shareholders who supply milk from farms across New Zealand. The company collects and processes that milk into dairy ingredients and consumer products, operating through two main channels: Ingredients, which supplies milk powders, proteins, cheeses, and specialty dairy ingredients to food manufacturers and exporters, and Consumer, which sells branded dairy products such as Anchor, Anlene, Anmum, and Fernleaf in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. Fonterra also runs foodservice operations supplying dairy products to restaurants, bakeries, and cafes. Its ingredients business generates most revenue through global commodity and specialty dairy sales, while consumer brands provide higher-margin earnings. The co-operative's primary markets include New Zealand, Greater China, Southeast Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and the United States, with China being a major destination for its dairy exports.
