Kimberly-Clark Corp Frequently Asked Questions
Guru Commentaries on NAS:KMB
Kimberly Clark is noted as a consumer products firm that contributed positively to the quarterly performance of the Income Builder Fund. However, there is no explicit directional argument made regarding its future performance or valuation.
We added global consumer staples leader Kimberly-Clark to the portfolio following its announced acquisition of Kenvue and subsequent share price decline. Over the long term, we view this as an opportunity to own a high-quality core business alongside a portfolio of strong but under-managed consumer health brands where Kimberly-Clark’s operating discipline can drive meaningful cost synergies and improve growth.
Kimberly Clark (KMB) faced significant challenges last quarter, with shares dropping over 14% following the announcement of its $48.7 billion acquisition of Kenvue, a move we view as a questionable capital allocation decision. This acquisition takes KMB into new categories and introduces substantial integration risks. We find it unfortunate that management opted for such an aggressive strategy after successfully executing an internally focused playbook that positioned the company for future value creation. While we acknowledge the valuation of 13 times earnings is a historically wide discount to peers, we remain cautious due to the deal-related uncertainties.
