Address No. 5 Godwin Street, Fairburn House, Bradford, West Yorkshire, GBR, BD1 2AH
Provident Financial plc was a British subprime lender that served customers in the non-standard credit market, typically those with limited or impaired credit histories who are underserved by mainstream banks. Its operations included Vanquis Bank, which issued consumer credit cards and personal loans, and Moneybarn, which provided vehicle finance for used cars. The group also operated a home credit business, Provident, offering short-term doorstep loans collected by agents, and later added digital lending and online instalments through brands such as Satsuma and Sunny. It funded lending through retail deposits at Vanquis Bank and wholesale borrowing. Following restructuring, the home credit division was placed into administration in 2021, and the remaining business was renamed Vanquis Banking Group plc in 2023, concentrating on credit cards, vehicle finance and personal loans across the United Kingdom.
